I currently have an Aiwa Z-M2600 that has served me well but the CD drive
stopped working years ago and all I've used it for for the past few years is
for audio from the DVD player and anything else I choose to pass-thru the
hi-fi. One of the speakers has died recently and I'm thinking that enough
is now broke to consider buying a replacement. Can anyone recommend a
cheapish hi-fi (£200 mark)?

hmm, "hihi" and "£200" are not really compatible concepts. If you mean a
cheap stereo system, take your pick - most of the sub £300 fare at
Currys or Comet is much of a muchness.
You could try going to Richer Sounds and picking up an amp, cd player
and speakers for about £250 I guess

Don't think you could get any more for your money, and beats any mini
system!

Good call. I've got the DM-30 and it came with Mission speakers for
the same price. It's great and beats anything else around that price
by a mile.

All the best...Ian
